Do fish sing? Do birds play? Can animals write poetry? Absolutely. Yet Western science, heavily focused on evolutionary theory, has often ignored this. Animals, however, can be very creative and imaginative. Children perhaps know this better than most.

The excellent Norwegian Cikada Ensemble owes its name to the crickets, which vibrate and sing just like them. The ten musicians present a family concert that will allow you to experience singing fish along the Great Barrier Reef (Seafloor Dawn Chorus by Kristine Tjøgersen), meet children who play by folding up in car tires to roll down hillsides (#29 by Pierre Slinckx, in a video by Francis Alÿs) and attend nocturnal animal parties! Because with composer Kristine Tjøgersen, featured artist of Ars Musica 2026, even the bats can't help but dance.
