LES INSECTES & BASTIEN DAVID | Concert for schools

Crawl, slide, and run past the notes during Métamorphoses by Bastien David, a sound spectacle for young and old centered around a gigantic 'Metallophone'.

The metallophone is a unique instrument conceived by the young French composer Bastien David. It is a blend of a vibraphone, a metal sculpture, and a voice. 216 steel blades of the keyboard are arranged in a circle several meters in diameter. They are tuned in twelfth tones, “notes between the notes,” and can create a mysterious glow like unusual chants.

The six musicians of the ensemble Les Insectes present a physical, immersive sound ballet for young and old centered around the metallophone. It promises to be a fascinating spectacle, as the metallophone is played by gliding along the instrument, crawling underneath it, or running around it. In this way, the artists become, as it were, one with the instrument, paying homage to the sensory and the power of collective intelligence.

Expect a fascinating dive into the universe of miniature sounds!
